2020 Buds, Flowers and Fruit!

Wonderful pomegranate. Unlike my Parfianka, I think this is the right variety

Those are the best looking Moonglow I have seen. Glad they were sweet.

Very nice. Those things are like $2 a fruit here.

Same here, more like $2.50 at Costco. But the fruits are huge and from mature trees in California orchards. I really like them and buy 2-3 cases (of 8) every year. If they are not as expensive, Iā€™ll buy more. I also like the slow process of deseeding them as much as the fruit, nice stress buster

The fruit does not look like Parfianka. Parfiankaā€™s skin is usually much darker red.

With Wonderful, the darker are the seeds the better is the flavor. If you have more fruits on the bush and they are not splitting, I would wait longer.

I am soooooooooo with you on that! Like a puzzle. My kids think Iā€™m NUTS . . . but I put on nitrile gloves sometimes, when I eat poms . . . because they stain my nails black! At least the Wonderfuls do. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: And the acid makes my hands ā€˜feel funnyā€™ . . . (donā€™t tell anyone about the gloves, OK?) They might come for me with a white jacket.

Iā€™m well aware this is very old, but I got a plant and some seeds coming to try them out. Thank you for introducing me to this rare species. It is not deciduous in your climate? From what I can gather it is partially deciduous? How quickly did yours grow and size does it naturally want to form, very upright, shrubby, open center? You contain more information about Sete Capote than I can find anywhere on the web haha

Howā€™s your purple gage to eat? Could you describe the taste?

Some of my plums split their skin because of the rain we just had. They arenā€™t deeply split. I donā€™t think they are fully ripe though. Can I just leave them on the tree or will they rot soon?

If the weather is dry, on some plum varieties, cracking wounds may heal. However, the chance of those plums go on to rot is high.

In my area, ants and wasps will move in to further damage the plums resulting in rotting.
