Wild stuff in my back yard… wild grapes on wild black cherry tree… Black cherry trees always show some Cedar rust.

Pignut hickory nuts sizing up already. You can eat them but they do not crack well. Reds are the same not worth the effort especially if you have access to shagbark.

I was travelling for last month, things are not that great this year because no spray was done on my fruit trees but starting to harvest these every day .

MY Rouge de Roussillion apricots are starting to ‘color up’! They turn a golden yellow then change to orange. My apples sizing up as well. The peaches are slower this year, but coming along.

Morning shade. Already 85 degrees. Going up to 104 today. I must water in the am and pm. If not, they will fry. Incredible heat for the beginning of june. Horrible.

Not a tight enough weave on the nylon “footie” or the damage had been done before I put it over this peach? I tried to do so very early when they were still fairly small, but maybe…

Hi! It’s a young tree and this is the first apple, but i didn’t noticed any problem.
By the way i still have to wait to pick her right?
Thanks

nope. i pick them just as they start to go from light green to yellow. full yellow they get soft and mealy. for apple sauce it doesnt really matter. with all the sweet fruit your used to, you may be surprised how sour these can be. i was raised on them so to me thats what a apple should taste like. they really shine in sauce and pies. we used to forage the wild trees on old farmland here and my mother would can sauce of them over the winter. we would pick barrels of them. she would add pumpkin spice to the sauce as she cooked them down the house would smell great! was our treat to have apple sauce with ice cream or whipped cream.

they do get a little sweeter the more yellow they get but they also get very soft and dry. the French here call them the pomme blanche. the white apple.
