I got a new hose reel last spring and it’s been working out great (glahoden) and while I did drain the hose before winter, like a dummy, I left the plastic nozzle on the hose over the winter and when I went to turn it on today it’s badly split. 100% my fault and definitely beating myself up for it today. The hose itself is fine but I need a new nozzle. Can anyone recommend a nozzle that is multifunction? I basically just used three functions on my multifunction nozzle, the rinse setting which essentially was a straight stream and let out the most water the furthest, center, which was like a rain shower but shot further, maybe 10 to 12 ft , and the rain shower function which only reached one or two ft away. If you can recommend one that has a setting for filling up buckets that essentially opens the nozzle to the maximum diameter to let the most water through, that would be nice too. Open to all suggestions. Thanks for your help
I got one by a brand called Orbit from Costco. The part that connects to the hose will actually rotate 360 degrees which I find really nice. It’s your general like 6 function garden nozel tho with the multi different sprays. I love it tho and think it works great.

Not the exact match to mine but it’s like 99%
I have a Costco membership so maybe I’ll check in the spring to see if they have one in stock at my local store
I don’t like that one. It breaks too easily as with all orbit ones. For me as least. And if you have arthritis, it can be hard to open and close.
Here’s the one I’ve been using after breaking multiple things from lowes, Costco, and home depot. Plus they have a 1.5 year warranty.
I left mine outside and it froze and broke as well. I messaged them and they asked for a photo then sent me another one the next day with 2 day shipping.
Avoid the consumer grade stuff and anything with a squeeze valve. I like the commercial grade Dramm valves, wands, and breakers. Info on those and more can be found in this thread:
Those look pretty legit.
I have bad arthritis so i don’t personally do well with anything that involves just a finger. Plus i got tiny sausage fingers at that.
Squeeze valves are my friend in this aspect
I use the Dramm variable spray nozzle. I keep it in the garage out of the weather.
I use the ELEY nozzle…
I went through many hose nozzles and the only one not breaking was this ancient brass one you just turn… it’s the 1950’s style. So now I only use all-brass hose fittings. Currently I use Eley as well, but their quick-release connections are not the greatest (they stick). Note I may have been using the wrong kind of grease on them, I finally bought some silicone grease which is what they need. Their nozzles have all been great.
Agreed. Buy once, cry once, one & done, whatever you want to call it…
I doubt I’ll ever have to buy another nozzle set-up.
I have a few of these Orbit wand from Lowe’s. Around $20 Durable and good flow. Liked it enough grabbed another back up that’s been sitting in my shed for a few years.

I’m partial to the dram brand.
My favorite watering tool… my wife got this for my birthday back in the early 90s. It works great today just as it did back then.
2.5 gal… has a copper head on the end that dispurses the water in a fine shower type pattern. You can turn that copper end piece so that it points up or down… or even sideways if you wanted.
It has lasted 30+ years… a quality product.
Not sure if you can still buy these.

That might be a Haws:
I have the exact same design but in plastic which I think is by the same company … much cheaper but it has also been very durable as it is at least 25 years old now:
I’m all set on watering cans, just needed a new nozzle for my hose. I have two rainmaker cans that I love. I got one based on a review by the wirecutter many years back after having a bad experience with a metal one that I got at the local Ace hardware thinking it would be high quality, but it rusted. I had a tough time tracking down a second rainmaker watering can. I’m not sure if they don’t make them anymore or if they just don’t sell them via Amazon but my second one ended up coming from hydroponic store in Colorado I think. At 3.2 gallons, 1 in each hand does the job that my hoses can’t reach and it’s impractical to run drip line.
This was the state of my old nozzle that I accidentally left outside
I couldn’t find any of the commercial grade dramm or eley hose nozzles that were within my budget and had all the features I wanted, so I just went with one of the non-commercial grade dramm hose nozzles. I fully accept it may not last very long, but I’ll make sure to bring it inside the winter and hopefully it’ll last a little longer then my last one. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
Anytime. Anything is better than the broke one!
I just put a 3/4" plastic ball valve on the garden hose, put about a 3’ clear 3/4" piece of hose on that then duct taped about a 3", “ball” of aluminum screen on the end of that as a diffuser.
Works great, will Never plug. If weren’t buried in the shed for winter I’d post a pic.
I’ve go through so many multi-function nozzles that this last time I was determined to buy something that I could replace individual components. So far I’ve been happy with this:
The nozzle is metal and standard 3/4 fitting, the wand is metal and standard 3/4 on each end. The plastic valve is just screwed on and can be replaced. I replaced mine with a brass valve. I use quick connect fittings to switch between the shower nozzle and a spray nozzle. The shower setting flow on the multi-function heads is always terrible because they have to restrict the flow too much to fit in all the different settings. In the future when the valve or quick connect fittings wear out I’ll be able to replace those specific parts.
What I have noticed with those type thumb “on/off” controls is that they get harder and harder to use as they are being used. There were 4 different ones with thumb on/off controls used at the horse barn I am at. Each time they work great at first. Then next thing you know they are hard to turn on or off and control the amount of water you want out of them.
