Clark's Crabapple

Well that is likely out for Yates then. Hall and Horse would likely work. Both being Mountain apples.

Think we all know Yates is a 5-9 apple.

You could check with 39th Parallel to see if he has any Clark’s crab scions left

@smsmith I have some Clark’s Crab Scion but it’s thin. If you order something else request it in the notes section and I’ll include some thin scion. I might be able to collect more premium scion off the nursery trees and put them in inventory. I do have some Clark’s Small Yellow pear in stock.

I buy roll fencing 4’ high and cut it into 10-16’ lengths depending on how much deer or goat pressure I expect for any tree I plant outside either of my orchards with a 6.5” tall fence. Yep, I am genius enough to plant fruit trees on the same property as goats and deer! :rofl:

What label maker are you using?

Previously used the Cheap BEADNOVA tree tags (Plastic), but I started using the Aluminum tags. Got them from Amazon.

Search for empresso tags. Those are the more expensive ones but should also pull up the off brand options.

Anyone have Clark’s Crabapple flowering yet?

My CC fruit buds are slightly swelling now. This is good for my area as my apples tend to escape late frost.

This apple has proved to be a great apple in other places! I’m expecting to see some great pictures this year. This apple may be one of God’s greatest creations. It seems strange to me that people call it by my name and i’m only the grower. Growing apples is pretty easy it just takes room, patience, and it doesn’t hurt to have a nursery or two that love these apples. @39thparallel has done much of the heavy lifting getting this apple spread around. I’m excited to see everyones crops this year. If you want to grow an orchard of these or many trees no worries i did not patent or trademark this apple. Feel free to spread it around!

@Seannosis

They look like they like it there! It is amazing to me these apples are making their way around the world. @applenut may someday grow them in Africa.

Finally ordered my scion of Clark’s Crab. Went ahead and ordered a stick of Red Cinnamon being @clarkinks has been talking it up here lately.

Will probably put a tree of Clark’s Crab right off the back porch to make sure I can get a harvest off of it every year. With all the positive reviews I’ve read, I don’t want to chance the animals wiping me out before they’re ripe. Plus, from the pictures posted here, it does look very ornamental.

@Auburn has already trialed CC in my area so I know it’ll get enough chill hours. Now we’ll see if the G890 rootstock I’ll be putting it on can survive my house. Soil is pure clay, I have all the bugs and diseases, lots of rain in the winter and spring, droughts during the 100 degree summer, high winds and late 20 degree frost after being in the 70’s and 80’s for 2 weeks.

I don’t spray for anything, bug, disease or fungal.
Despite all the diversity that CC will face, I think it’ll be ok. Red Cinnamon, I’m not so sure about…
