@steveb4 and @lordkiwi — on the Paleo Diet and Keto…
You have to watch out for commercialism … many companies are making bogus paleo, keto products, and selling them at big box stores, Walmart, kroger… they know those diets are popular and they push the rules way out of bounds to make products that they can put the word on… but it is not true to the Diet standards.
I think the Paleo Diet if done to the standards… is very useful… for many people.
A good source on youtube… search on “Paleo Flourish”
If you are eating SAD (Standard American Diet)… Paleo is a HUGE leap in the right direction.
I knew my problems were inflammation related and I found my way to Paleo looking for a diet that would help with inflammation. Paleo diet if done correctly will get you off the very high carb foods, and processed foods… will get you off the super inflammatory grain oils, and onto better fats like coconut oil, avacado oil, butter, etc…
I went from 220 lbs to 165 in 4 months on the Paleo diet.
Got off all my Rx meds on Paleo diet…
But on Paleo you can still consume quite a bit of carbs, honey, maple syrup, coconut palm sugar are allowed in moderation… so you can still carb it up quite a bit and I did some of that.
Dr. Ken Berry (great source for keto, carnivore)… like me started with Paleo, then found his way to Keto… and finally to Carnivore (where complete healing happened).
He like me got much better on Paleo, but was not completely healed got even better on Keto, much better, but still had some lingering problems (extreme Gird being one of those) and the Gird did not go away until he did Carnivore.
For me… when I have pain and need to heal… that is when I carnivore. Gut issues completely heal for me at around day 20 on carnivore.
Most of the time I can live in the Clean Keto world…
And every once in a while (about every two weeks) or on Special occasions like Christmas or Thanksgiving… I can Paleo for a while… (go thru a Paleo allowed carb cycle).
I weigh 155 lbs now…
At day 31 on carnivore, I weighted 143…
I weighed 165 lbs when I was a senior in highschool (1979).
But for me it is not about weight… it is much more about pain and staying away from surgery again.
For any of you out there that might consider a diet change and you really need it for healing…
A good path is…
SAD - Paleo - Keto - Carnivore
Many people try to jump from SAD to Keto and fail miserably… Carbs are very addictive.
