How is your weather? (Part 2)

A other big, fast rain for me.

3.22 inches in 1 hr and 15 minutes.

Just noted a forecast of 36F for tonight, that’s down another 3 degrees from what I last saw. That means a potential frost since we’re often 3-4 degrees below forecast. The only thing blooming now is Hawthorn, and that stuff stinks so bad I’d be glad if it got frosted.

Is this pretty late in the year to see those cold temps?

More rain in the forecast, but heaviest west and north. An inch to 2 inches for a wide swath of S MN/N WI.

it’s rare where I am to get frosty in June, but it can happen. I’m in town so it’s almost unheard of but surrounding areas have seen freezes this past week

:scream: I don’t even want to imagine what that was like. We got our last frost 2 days ago. Got down to 31. Only light damage on a few ā€œtendersā€. We should be good to go now. I can plant out potted Donald Compton persimmon descendants and graft peaches now!

Our last frost date is usually around Memorial Day.

May ended a little above normal with temps and very wet… 6.7 inches of rain.

June has started with rain. The forecast continues to look wet right thru next week. Yesterday the neighborhood was a like a symphony of lawn mowers running.

I’ve had an inch of snow on that and it’s fine :slightly_smiling_face: Very tough corn. I had some in a location in the high desert - Mojave, and in 2015 we had a late rain. Some of what i had got flooded into a dusty desert two track outside the fence line. It sprouted without any further water ALL summer and produced ears. I saved seed from that and have planned it out since … crazy hardy. Anasazi is a pretty hardy sweet corn too. And if you follow Joseph Lofthouse’s work he had painted hills variety for flour corn and painted valley for sweet corn.

i got seed this spring of double red , atomic orange, hopi blue, morado purple and big horse marbled.
i plan to plant them out by ripening times next spring so they dont cross pollinate each other. the ones that overlap will be planted away from each other.

Pouring here this morning. I"m getting use to all this rain. Turning into the tropics up here :sun_with_face: Mid 80fs and more rain tomorrow before cold front weds and Canadian high pressure sticks around thru the weekend so cooler/windy/dry air. Looking to head up to Duluth with the bikes to do some biking around Lake Superior.

Lot of hype with the rain yesterday but only ended up with a 1/4 inch from it. Last couple of days have felt like July with temps in the mid 80Fs and lots of humidity. Drier/cooler air this morning with the cold front pushing thru. Very windy the next few days and temps in the 70Fs. Should be very comfortable right thru the weekend.
