45 when I got up this morning. 70 now. Low humidity. 5 months of weather like this would be just fine by me
thunderstorm came through mid day and dropped it from a muggy 81 to 68. sunny with a nice breeze all afternoon.
Spent the day in Duluth, MN. Down by the lake the wind was off the water so it was chilly (low 60Fs). Hiking up in the hills it was about perfect. Lake water was very cold as expected (no swimming). Driving around in Duluth in winter must be fun with how steep those roads are. Really like that area of Minnesota.
Rain here last night. Over an inch. 7 day looks very wet outside of tomorrow. River crests anytime now.
South Dakota got tons of rain and flooded the Missouri River so the council bluffs IA I 29 are closed and that part of Omaha are flooded right now. We got at 5 inches of rain the last 3 days that doesn’t help either. Sad.

This is our forecast for the week:
Nothing too unusual in terms of overall temperatures for July, but the duration and timing is going to be problematic. We’re expected to stay above 100 through next Monday. Already two fires today and it’s just the first day.
The highest dew points in the country seem to occur in the upper Midwest. It’s very rare and seems somewhat difficult to understand. But that’s what I’ve seen.
Highs of 90s, lows of 80s here in southeast Florida with morning and afternoon showers/storms. At home in Plant City, higher highs and lower lows, with lots of afternoon rain. Consistency of a Florida summer, wet and hot.
I’ve heard it’s due to all the corn that “sweats” but not sure. The waterlogged soils this year probably contribute too.
Almost 2.5 inches of rain yesterday. Warm today and rain chances stick around thru next week. Friday looks like garbage with low pressure over Wisconsin.
Usually we’re burning in hell by July. Mid- 80’s with a breeze all week long. I do know hell is in the wings!
Farming the Tall Grass Prairie east of the 100th meridian west is possible. Tilling the Short Grass Prairie west of there is not, notwithstanding many settlers tried it. They were inveigled to do so under the notion that “rain follows the plow.”
"Popularized by Charles Dana Wilber in an 1881 book touting the agricultural promise of Nebraska, the phrase supported a grand notion that the western Great Plains, which in the early 19th century had been labeled the ‘Great American Desert,’ could be transformed into a garden, if only people would expose the moist soil to the atmosphere.
“Rainy years added credibility to the idea, and homesteaders flooded the plains. But when the rains reverted to a more normal pattern, thousands were trapped by drought and bankruptcy. And ‘rain follows the plow’ was discredited as pseudoscience.”

The last 3 weeks… we have had many days in the mid to upper 90s… and very little rain.
I actually did some watering the past week… mostly new things started this spring.
Older more established trees were showing no signs of stress thanks to layers of compost and wood chips.
We finally got a little rain last night and a real pour down this morning… it is cloudy still… may get more.
A good all night slow rain would be my preference.
I think we’ve had 1 90F day…that is it. We had rain all late afternoon/evening yesterday on top of all the other rain we’ve had lately it is getting old. Need a dry stretch. I can’t recall ever mowing my lawn so many times.
GFS has that hurricane coming into S Texas.
Typical of Virginia . . . our weather is all over the place. We had some nice dry air for several days - temps under 80 - delightful. And then - BANG - disgustingly sticky and hot! Today is the sticky and hot variety. UGH
Pretty sure I lost a midsize weeping willow tree. My neighborhood has their own community well and they have asked us not to water.
Hazy hot and humid since thurs. Heavy rain right now. Sitting under the eve of the camper near the fish river listening to the rain pellting off of everything. Quite relaxing but not much we can do. Tomorrow and the rest of the week are supposed to be sunny with thunder showers around and in the mid 80’s. Typical july weather.
Much needed rain today and tonight. Then into the 90’s
Dry day here. Low 80Fs. Still a little humid. Rain back tonite/tomorrow.
NWS seems to think we turn hot.
seems nothing has changed, still hot in the summer and cold in the winter, we even got a -18 for a day or two in January, so if there is claimant change it’s not where i live. but i understand other folks are not that lucky where they live.
Ground has gotten too hard and dry to pull weeds.
Couldnt buy rain last year. It doesnt seem to end this year. Got 1.5" in a hurry yesterday.
