-5 this morning. “Feels like” temp of -19.
The national news guy just said it was -10 in the cities. He must have windchill confused with actual temp. Its 6 above there.

No freeze until Thanksgiving and now I have a week of night temperatures in the low 20s. And I have almost 200 peonies (most of them 5/8 eye roots that require big holes) and over a thousand daffodils in transit. I hope the ground doesn’t freeze too hard next week.
I noticed a lot of -40Fs in Alaska yesterday, but it appears a pattern change is in the works with the west part of N America warming up while we sit in between the ridge and the trough for another 7-10 days.
11F here this morning. The wind was up all night keeping the airmass mixed. I think calm conditions and we would have easily been low single digits.
mid-Missouri zone 6b. Last night (Dec 1, 2024) we got our first snow of the season, 2-3 inches. Temp 23 degrees F. Glad the wind was calm. I bladed the drive with the tractor for the first time in several years.
A very light frost today in places also with it being 40* this morning
The forecast was 22… we got 29/30F.
Our second frost so far…

Light dusting of snow this morning ahead of some “warmer” air. Should be mid 20Fs today and mid 30Fs by Weds (heat wave). Cold late week, but maybe near 40F by next weekend (tropical). Still haven’t had to use the shovel and it doesn’t look like anything in the 7 to 10 day.
Gusty winds to 50 mph, windchill as low as -18. An unpleasant early December day
Snow, snow, and more . Got about 2 feet on the ground, more coming down now. Coldest we have gotten down to is 15. Supposed to go down to 10 in a couple nights, then creep up to a little above freezing over the weekend.
14in predicted tom. into the night. 30mph gusts. south of us is supposed to get a couple feet. tractors fueled. let’s rock!
We put the 3 pt hitch snow blowers on the tractors today, we had serviced them about a week ago so they’re ready to go. 10-19" forecast over the next day or so. Currently 25F outside with a fire in the wood stove and a toasty 79F in my little corner of the living room! I pretty much live in shorts and a T-Shirt all winter.
Its now winter. Leaves are finally brown and falling in the 40’s-50’s. Sometimes 30’s at night. January will be the coldest month. By February things start warming up!
10F this morning. Slow warming taking place into the mid 20Fs and even 40s by Sat and nearly 50F by Sunday. Cooler next week (20Fs) and warming by following weekend.
Lots of guys ice fishing in areas that freeze up fast. River was frozen when i drove over this morning. I wouldn’t walk on it.
First potential rain clouds since Sunday (when it depressing drizzled all day). It has been brutally sunny. Also means it is warming up, highs of low 80s next Monday/Tuesday till that next cold front comes across possibly Wednesday.
tom night supposed to get -5f. all of the small lakes and a large portion of the bigger lakes are frozen. time to get ice fishing!
I spent from 9:30 this morning to 2pm clearing snow. Such fun.
Into the 40s near 50F today. Washed the car (roadsalt). Noticed after all the birds and some squirrels were bathing/drinking the hose water (it leaks some). I suppose with everything frozen up liquid water is in short supply.
no snow or salt!
Teens to low 20s at night and no rain for almost 3 weeks. I’m spoiled from this past fall. The weather this fall was the best in recent memory. Warm days, cool nights. Delightful. Now I run outside to get chicken eggs to keep warm. What a wimp I’ve turned into
Temps to get above 50 F this aft. Finally an opportunity to spray dormant copper on the nects, which have finally dropped their leaves.
