* At 922 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 5
and 7.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of
1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area over the next several
hours. Flash flooding is already occurring.
Still got a few more days until this pushes out of the area. Hopefully the rain shifts more north. Minneapolis can have it.
Any local flooding?
Seems the heaviest has shifted south both last night and this morning. Some light rain here all day yesterday but didn’t add up to much. ust light rain out there now. Keeping the temps in the 70s. Still sitting at 4.25 inches the last couple of days.
It has been dry since August of 2025 with May 2026 being the only month with average rainfall. June was below with just 2.6 inches falling at my place. It has been worse, but the dry season has just started. I’m hoping the El Nino will help kick in some Gulf moisture. It has been very hot, but nothing like was seen in central NC in 2007 heatwave & drought.
Couple dry days in the 80Fs. Still humid but should drop some. Extended looks pretty nice in this area. Could even see temps drop back into the 50Fs at night in a week or so. Turbo heat ridge forms over the plains. GFS has temps pushing 120F in South Dakota in a week or so. Stays much cooler to the east (trough).
I’d love to go fishing off the east coast (Maine/Mass). I’m starting to see a lot of center console boats on the Mississippi River. I saw a beautiful fiberglass center console yesterday with a 200 yamaha on it. I almost thought maybe someone brought it up from Florida for the summer. A guy i know ordered an 20ft aluminum center console. The sheriff and the DNR here both use them.
The Root River (That drains parts of S Minnesota) was just ripping into the main channel yesterday. Someone sent me a video. Whole trees were floating out in the Mississippi.
lots of charters out of lower coast. ive been invited several times. ill get out there eventually. i was told you will go home with enough fish to pay for your trip.
If you go to Canada you can’t bring much back in fish. You’ll catch 1000 walleyes but might bring back 8 fillets or whatever the limit is. A guy i know won’t eat frozen fish–only eats fresh. This is walleye and sometimes crappie/panfish.
80Fs and lower humidity finally. Dewpoint in the 50Fs. Typical July day around here. More rain midweek//but shouldn’t be measured in inches like the last storms. We did end getting a shower yesterday but only 1/10 inch.
the limits are more liberal off the Maine coast as the ground fish fishery has improved in the last 20 yrs. theyre getting some 100lb. halibut now a days. some day ill get out there.
Fish from shore? There was a Minnesota kid with a Youtube channel last summer that did that out there and i want to say was catching pollock? Somewhere near Acadia National Park. That place looks neat==probably super busy this time of year?
Dry summer weather showed up right on schedule. 80s to 90s and no precip in the foreseeable future. This year has been almost perfectly normal except for the warm winter.
