Hello my friend. They fall in your hand when they are full ripe and they turn vivid red.
Some do, but some do not. I’ve seen some that stay attached even when they are rotting, and some of them also seem to come loose way too soon, though also there are many that still taste terrible when fully ripe.
I spent much of my childhood and teenage years eating those in Miami, and there’s a lot of variation among them. I think mostly seedlings are planted as hedges, not grafted or clones, so you sometimes get very different fruit in different parts of the same hedge. I love the good ones, hate the bad ones.
