Ordering from Arboreum

On what rootstock are they on?

My almond is on Nemaguard.

I sent my money order last week.

They are on Myrobalan 29C. Brady

Hi everyone

I sent Arboreum an email last Friday(Mar. 11) asking them to send me my trees and they did send them to me. It looks like they sent them out on Monday Mar. 14. and they arrived today. They are all either leafing out and or have green buds now. I plan to temp. plant them in containers tomorrow and would like to know what type of mix I should use? A mix of potting soil, peat and vermiculite or perlite and at what ratios? I’ll take pics before and after potted etc.

Thanks everyone
Lance

btw
They never emailed me that they were going to send them to me after my email and the invoice said ship early March.

How temporary? That mix should be fine at just about any ratio.70% potting soil and 30% perlite.A lot of potting soil is peat based.Brady

I was figuring around around a month…until it got warmer here.

My trees arrived today. A few of the leaves have already popped out, which bugs me, but otherwise they look to be well-packaged and of high quality. Overall, I’m pleased.

Good news!

Any pictures?

I asked Arboreum to send my trees on Feb 29th, then reminded them again this past Friday. I got an answer this morning, along with a tracking number and the trees were delivered almost exactly an hour after the email. They definitely go with a big box- 5’x1’x1’.

They sound a bit like Matt’s in that some leaves have already popped out, at least for the apricot and the plumcot. The Euro plums are further along than mine, but not yet leafed out.

A nice surprise is that the Middleburg plum actually has a few blossoms. Maybe I can get a sample next year, which would be great, as it was the variety which I’m most looking forward to, after Scott’s good experience with it. It is also the largest of the trees from this order, at 5/8". I haven’t been able to find my notes, but I think these are a bit smaller than trees I’ve gotten from them in the past. They do have plenty of roots though, so I think that they’ll grow well.

I know some people are potting theirs to wait for warmer weather. I’ve got all mine planted in the yard. I think they’re better off in-ground ASAP.

Next up: digging the rest of the holes for my Trees of Antiquity order which arrives on Monday.

Here are my pics of what I received from Arboreum, I ended up planting 2 of the 3 trees and potting up the Moniqui Apricot because it is much further along then my cots that I planted last year. Harglow and and Tomcot are still deep in dormancy here planted on the north-west side of my property.

I got my order from Arboreum today and was pretty impressed. Really nice roots on good sized trees. They also sent me a bonus tree, a Tuono Almond, which was very nice of them. Three of the five trees were leafed out, and I guess that’s fine but I hope next week’s night temps of low 20s don’t cause problems.

Is anyone still waiting for their shipment from Arboreum? I’m in Ohio and am still waiting on an Early Purple Guigne cherry and Raritan Rose peach.

It’s almost summer in California. I suggest you contact them to check what’s going on with your order.

I just checked my email and they had emailed me Friday telling me that the trees were leafing out and wouldn’t do well being shipped out east. They had emailed me in early March asking about the weather situation and I told them to wait a few weeks. Oh well. Next time I’ll take shipment earlier and store them.

It looks like Arboreum recently listed some figs on their site. The descriptions are interesting, they talk about being the ones to introduce many of the figs they offer and how the names have become confused/changed over the years.

Hey has anyone gotten 2018 Arboreum orders on the east coast? I have not gotten anything yet and no response so far to my query…

Thats funny, right after I post this my wife emails to tell me a tree came in the mail. Since I only ordered from Arboreum this year I assume my order finally showed up…
