All blooms except some on my Red Haven got hit by the cold snap a few weeks ago.

That cold snap was rough. My peach buds looked fine going into it but the ones that were furthest along didn’t set anything. The later blooming ones seem to have pulled through though so fingers crossed for a decent harvest still.

We also got hit with the cold snap about mid bloom. It looks like some of the later blooms set - and since peaches tend to over-set anyway, we may end up thinning less this year. That’d be a welcome relief.
Same cold weather front here in North Georgia during the blooming stage.
I grow:
Risingstar, PF Eightball, Blazingstar, Starfire, PF 19-007, Coralstar, Intrepid.
All are the same age.
The ones that produced well, despite the cold weather, are:
in first place Starfire,
in second place Intrepid,
and in third place PF Eightball.
Blazingstar and PF 19-007 had one or two fruits only - Quite disappointing.

we’ve got a dip coming next week into the mid or low 30s. (SUPPOSEDLY) (they keep predicting these and then they don’t happen)
reliance is flowering now
i guess I’ll find out later in the week if things are going to go well for it.

Thinned the earlier ripening peach varieties yesterday. Mid and late ripening varieties can wait a bit longer, until after the pit hardening phase. Decent set on all the peach trees despite the cold snap. Plums and apricots got zapped though.

reliance blooming, near-freezing nights the next night or two. won’t be below 30F so hope it is ok to produce this year
will be waiting until end of next week to start grafting. this is regrown rootstock from a veteran peach that got weed hwacked and killed the top. are these leaves about good size to graft? next week starts warmer nights. I’ll protect from sun at the graft union too. i think i can see 4 spots to graft onto, plus maybe I’ll do two on the reliance somewhere.

O’Henry and a Fantasia nectarine (harder to see against the roses) planted in February, my first bare roots and happy with the progress so far. The peach even flowered shortly after being planted, didn’t keep it of course.
That lawn is a goner, landlords will be smothering with woodchips and I’ll move my whole container summer garden there because it’s got the best sun on the property. Strawberries and blueberries will remain where they are for now and orange is tbd

Thinning and spraying continues… The peach trees are looking good and clean so far. I just hit them with 4th spray since pink, second since shuck split. It’s looking like I’m going to have to brace up some lower limbs to keep them from hitting the ground. Not a bad problem to have though 
I have a couple Indian White Freestones, unfortunately we’re on a North Facing Slope with some sun exposed bottom land near a creek so we are constantly battling fungus. We’ve had bumper crops of the peaches just to lose hundreds of them to fungal mummies. We’ve sprayed and tried some other tricks but nothing seems to work which is a bummer but the blooms are so pretty we just kind of let it ride.

did my peach grafting. i put a little reflective foil over after the photos just the union. spring snow and rising star mostly. I’ll post if any take

9 days since last spray, rainy and cool all day. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a cover back on them soon. Depending when, it might be the last spray for rich may before harvest. Observing PHI is a absolute must.
Its been somewhat drier spring and the seedling peach which is susceptible to just about everything is even doing well so far this season.

Sprayed cover this evening. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening, it was cool and there was basicly no wind, very calm, ideal conditions to spray. That’s not always the case though. Quoting a wise man here… “you need to get, while the getting is good”.

Just finished bracing up our peach trees. We had 6 thunderstorms roll through yesterday, and they were thrashing around pretty good. Noticed the wind thinned some peaches for me 
. We are expecting more thunderstorms over the next several days.
