well I’m with you fellas. ~Delmar, O Brother Where Art Thou
I purchaed a semi-dwarf bareroot Sentry several weeks ago. It came in professionally butchered I mean prunned. I potted it so I could baby sit it (the meaning of a nursery). It finally has put on first new leaf just a few days ago, so I can join you
actually it would be nice if that top bud broke and startes growing, I need more height before setting out.
I read the flyer and stopped at mom&pop grocery that I try to support. Advertised peaches were hard as rocks
.

waiting for June drop to thin but I’ll have to do it this year. reliance
the grafts on the (formerly veteran peach) rootstock are taking well, I’m glad and I’m looking forward to spring snow! in a year or two.
Peaches do not have a serious June drop like apples do. The sooner you remove the fruitlets, the better for the health and growth of the remaining few. Thin it to one every 6” is a minimum. Often, people leave wider space between fruit. That stem in the pic on the left seems very small. It may be able to carry a fruit or none.
i will as soon as possible then. i noticed last year it did drop some fruit even after i thinned and just assumed! thanks because i didn’t know they don’t
Peach fruitlets do not drop enough fruitlets to save themselves. They hold onto too many. Not only they don’t develop into good flavored fruit, branches tend to break by heavy weight first.
Happy for you for this productive year.
your advice and help is the reason I’ve got peaches at all!! thank you
You must have sold your soul to the devil to have Redhavens ripening in June in 7a
Per this link, real Red haven peach ripens around mid July in Southern IL.
Peaches labeled Red Haven is widely sold everywhere. A lot of them are mislabeled.
Where did you buy your tree from? It ripens awfully early for a Redhaven.
Redhaven is not ripe yet
