From what I can see pro 5 is a 5 oz landscape fabric which is usually under mulch/stone and has less UV Resistant than Sunbelt. Sunbelt is a ground cover 3.2 oz product which is used over top of gravel and has more resistance to UV degradation. Both are woven products.
I have used Sunbelt as a ground cover over gravel, in a comercial nursery/greenhouse with lots of foot traffic and it has lasted well over 20 years.
I also use it under gravel, 304 limestone to make roads. It does a fabulous job keeping the aggregate seperated from the mud. So mud doesnt pump up through the stone when its wet. I won’t build a roadway without it. My personal driveway is 1800’ long all undelayed with sunbelt. In 11 years I have had to add zero gravel to it.
The Pro 5 is needle punched and is more suited as a landscape fabric and is a heavier product. Probably more suited for permanent installation under stone or mulch.
I use a sunbelt product as a temp ground cover in my pumpkins and to smother perennial weeds for a season in my garden. Like Canadian Thistle and nutsedges. It last a long time. It does a good job if it is anhored properly.
I don’t know the difference in cost, but I would imagine pro5 being heavier would be more expensive. I use to sell Sunbelt but have used more than we sold.
This is not so much a question but an answer to a problem I have dealt with for five years and finally have a solution.
I really have a problem around my cabin and outbuildings with mice and rats. I thought I had a solution years ago “ just one bite rat Poison “ is very effective. However, there are a couple of problems first problem is that raccoons love it, and it will not kill them, but they will poop everywhere. Second issue is that you cannot use bait chunks they must be secured to a board or a trap or rats will just store it away somewhere and build a nest with it . I just found a chunk in my boot that I did not secure. I have tried everything from PVC pipe to cinderblocks all sort of worked but were hard to bait . I had to wire the cinderblocks together because raccoons are so powerful. They would pull apart. I have no pets so warning if you have pets not sure this is safe but it is finally working for me . I use about a three or 4 foot piec
e of irrigation tube secured to a board and with the bait screw in the middle. I made a collar that goes over the irrigation tube so it’s easy to bait and check. Hope this helps someone.
Anyone have any suggestions for good wide grow bags? I want to grow some tuber plants like ginger, tumeric, achira etc. in some growbags, but most of the ones I have are taller than wide. Is there any like shallow and wide 5/10/20 gallon grow bags?
Depends on the goal, the species, the variety, the region, the weather and the specific trees condition. Chopping the tree down is generally too much summer pruning though.
As long as the tree seems healthy after you have pruned, then its not too much. Anything more specific than that would require more information on what and where and why it is being pruned.
I think you’re talking about a grafting tool (sometimes called Omega) that make matching cuts on rootstock and scion. You need pretty big scion and rootstock to use it. I have one and ended up just using a knife because my rootstock is usually a lot bigger than my scion.
“Pruner” is just the seller not understanding what they are selling.
What size is it? Are they getting more yellow by now, with a blush but still very small, just barely bigger than a nice sized crabapple? If so, probably a Muscat de Venus. You’ll know for sure if they smell like grapes in a couple months and have a little bloom over them.
Muscat de Berney is much larger, about 3", more russeted, bitter-sharp. Once ripe there is no way you could confuse them. The former is delicious off the tree, better after a week of storage. The latter is a cider apple most people would describe as a spitter.
What type of wire and means of permanently attaching it to a T-post should I pick up for a trellis/arbor? I’m want to make an ‘L’ shaped thing with two grapevines on my back patio on a wire about 8’ up.
Regarding my pear tree, I called the nursery and they informed me that the tree is grafted into Calleryana, which I thought was good news. It may just have to do with a difference in color between the two at a young age.
2,4-d choline is the best option if vaporization is a issue, it is significantly less volatile than even the amine with about the same killing power as ester and even better with hotter weather because it stays where it was is put. Just it is a little more expensive.
Did it grow normally (and presumably run its course) before you pulled it up? I’d only seen a small number of white balls on the roots of my legumes before from the bacteria.
No, the beans were still green, but it was growing normal. Wasn’t stunted or anything, just got pulled because I was reseting the bed. Only one like that.
Some Desert King fruit had a little discoloration, but nothing close to that much.It was always accompanied by small black ants. So,they were probably the cause on mine.
