There are a lot more.
Dwarf everbearing and Illinois everbearing are different varieties. Dwarf everbearing is known for being easy to root, Illinois known for the opposite.
Yeah Illinois mostly doesn’t root at all from cuttings. There is a good thread about which mulberries root from cuttings and don’t.
Well that’s probably why I’ve had issues. That would be really nice of you to send me some. Would you like to trade for anything I have? Or, alternatively, I could Venmo you the shipping cost for the scions.
That solves the riddle on rooting issue lol. Dwarf everbearing is very different than Illinois everbearing. If @Gkight is going to send you cuttings then I will hold off on my end since my easier to root stuff has mostly broken dormancy
Alright. No sweat. My offer from the email still stands. Thanks!
one of my first ever grafts, florea onto chicago hardy, didnt take:
so i just removed the dead and started again with lsu o’rourke lower on the branch:
also set a couple air layers on a brown turkey plant that im training out to be a franken fig;
I’m trying to root Viking rootstock from cuttings with no bottom heat. The patent (expired) states it can root in the field from cuttings over winter ( Ca winters)
Congratulations! What are you going to do with all of them lol.
Getting serious . You’ll start getting some racks next lol.
I have some lol. Just still unboxing from our move so eventually I’ll get back there
Not sure… I have room to plant 3 of them. I guess I’ll give them away!
BTW, when can I plant them in ground? Maybe when they have been in the rooting pots for a couple of months?
Pedro
Mine are actually all in pots lol.
I’m rooting 4 varieties of figs this season 2 cuttings each. 8 cuttings in total.
Rooting method: Bagged tree pots
Medium: 50% coco 50% perlite
Pot size: 4x9 tree pots
Rooting hormone: Dip n Grow
Tops wrapped with parafilm
lights off until they start growing
Varieties:
Pastiliere
Teramo
DTE
Iranian Candy
I Hope everyone’s having a successful rooting season👍
Good luck. Even if you do everything right, you may have to deal with viruses that may or may not permanently corrupt the genes of your beloved fig tree.
are you actively heating the tent or just the ambient heat from the light?
I’m still learning fig abbreviations. What’s DTE? Jealous of the setup btw.
Des Tres plates
I found that it is helpful to root first in darkness and then turn on the lights.
It is De Tres Esplets.
