Pretty sure that is George Burns.
Idkif its a floribunda, im not seeing the multiple roses on one cluster.
Can you tell the classification of your striped rose, a Hybrid Tea, a Floribunda or a Grandiflora rose? If you can, you would be able narrow it down to striped roses of that classification. Then, you can compare your rose form, coloring, fragrance to pictures of striped roses online.
I have found it quite hard to go just by coloring because several striped roses on the same bush do not have uniformed colors.
I forgot the name for this one; first yellow orange, changes to orange-pink-peach
this one was mislabeled at the store, supposed to be creamy white “Osiana”, instead it is beautiful dark red, velvety, very fragrant, possibly “Papa Meilland” (?)
and then, “Nostalgia”
Nice to see roses grown by European forum member.
Grandparents old climbing rose that gets constantly mown off, but still spreads out and bloom at below 4".
Small 1- 1.5" blooms.
o thats cool you made this comment. someone else suggested don juan and i ordered it from the same website, but then i also ordered cherry float because it apparently handles disease better.
I just received a Zephirine drouhin for my mother. She is assisted living and has a small garden box and wants to squish this thing in. We’ll see how that goes. When I look closer at it and at the images of the actual flowers on Amazon where it was purchased (at her request, I wouldn’t buy plants from Amazon) the flowers look to simple vs. a full rose shape with lots of petals I see in the pictures for this variety. Does anyone know if this is actually a Zephirine drouhin?
The Amazon listing:
Look likes it. Shocking pink. I grew ZD for several years. It smells really nice and the bush is thornless. If your rose has these qualities, it sure is.
It is, more or less, a climbing rose. It throws out long arching canes. The only reason I gave up mine was because it bloomed only once a year (not a repeat bloomer) and it had serious black spots and I did not want to spray at the time. I wish I kept it.
It is NOT a rose for a small garden box, unfortunately.
Yes, it will definitely be a stuggle to keep it under control, but she wanted it and now that she is 87 I mostly just say, “sure mom.” I’ll have to stop by frequently to prune it back I’m sure. She already has too much in the box, including a morning glory vine that is going everywhere, so what’s one more thing, lol.
Previously she had a Julia Child that was very nice, but it ultimately got that nasty rosette disease and we couldn’t save it.
What a good son you are!! Zephirine Drouhin is an old rose. None of my friend has heard about it. Your mother has a good taste. I think mine became once bloomer because it was in very shady area (3-4 hours of sun). Hopefully, ZD will perform well for your mom.
What is that red rose? It looks very nice.
@no07 did not know for sure guessed that his red rose was Papa Meilland.
This is the time my roses are blooming.
This Love Song has a lavender color. I love the color but some of my friends do not like it. It’s has beautiful rose form but little to no fragrance. It is a small, attractive and well-behaved shrub that blooms in flushes throughout a growing season. It has some black spots but if you are willing to spray, it’s really worth growing.
Yes, bought by mistake but it’s great.
