Asparagus quiche
Oven baked hash browns
I’m still eating frozen berries and various things I made from apples last fall. I still have a couple dozen Muscat de Venus apples in cold storage. The one I tried yesterday tasted like grapes again. Today I had “lemon cake” (low carb) with coconut cream and both strawberries and blueberries from the freezer.
Last night I had venison tenderloin salad with dandelion greens from the yard. Pretty rare that I harvest an entire meal but it was pretty cool.
its hosta eating season! one of my favorite greens. cut then when theyre just unfurling and theyre great.
made with some frozen orange chicken i got from costco
I need to decide where to plant three I got last fall! I have two in the ground already but I think it gets too hot there for them. Didn’t pick anything to try from them yet.
We’ve been eating a bunch of tree collard from the tree collard project’s genepool as they were decided to be taking over a bit at home so we’re down to just a couple in the raised beds. I took three potted ones up to the allotment and plonked them in a bed today. In all the excitement I sowed more from Steven Edholm/skillcults rashtan population. They have been wonderfully tender and sweet after a mild winter here. I really like how tender even large leaf stems are after cooking down a bit.
well i WAS roasting chicory to add to the coffee, went out to go pull some more and the dog has learned to do it for me. she brought these to the porch
i didn’t pull those. i washed them and roasted them up though. love that flavor in the coffee.
she left the greens strewed all over the yard
your dog looks just like mine. right down to the tail and foot color and the black nose. Busters 1/3rd red heeler, 1/3rd. blue heeler and 1/3rd border collie. he loves digging and burying things as well as rolling in anything that smells not nice.
he dug up a blueberry bush a few years ago that i had just planted. came to me with it like ‘ hey, did you forget something’? i told him to go put it back and he went back and set it right next to the hole. smart dog.
We just used a bunch of overwintered scallions + our snap peas to make a snap pea salad! It was lovely!
GOOD GIRL!!! oooooh, I miss having puppers.
my potato and bunching onions tops are layed over but still green. i guess that means they are cold hardy.
That’s awesome. My lawn is like 50% chicory. I need to go pull em and do something with the roots.
Do you use them for anything besides coffee substitute / additive?
The first ripe strawberry of the year!
Early this year.
Ate several strawberries, mulberries and goumi berries today.
The strawberries were a mix of sure crop, seascape, eversweet.
Girardi mulberries, red gem goumi.
Made a small batch of jam too.
TNHunter
the greens for my early season salad- i like the bitter. then dry and roast the roots to light brown slices and grind for the coffee flavoring.
nothing else really.
sneaky noodle. mustard greens, bok choi, dried peppers from last year, local eggs from a friend, carrot, chard, yellow oyster mushroom, last year’s corn. and noodle with chicken broth and soya
We ate the last Gold Rush apple at lunch from the little office refrigerator. Still so good.
Garriguette and Mara des Bois strawberries!
