I’m still eating frozen berries and various things I made from apples last fall. I still have a couple dozen Muscat de Venus apples in cold storage. The one I tried yesterday tasted like grapes again. Today I had “lemon cake” (low carb) with coconut cream and both strawberries and blueberries from the freezer.

Last night I had venison tenderloin salad with dandelion greens from the yard. Pretty rare that I harvest an entire meal but it was pretty cool.

I need to decide where to plant three I got last fall! I have two in the ground already but I think it gets too hot there for them. Didn’t pick anything to try from them yet.

We’ve been eating a bunch of tree collard from the tree collard project’s genepool as they were decided to be taking over a bit at home so we’re down to just a couple in the raised beds. I took three potted ones up to the allotment and plonked them in a bed today. In all the excitement I sowed more from Steven Edholm/skillcults rashtan population. They have been wonderfully tender and sweet after a mild winter here. I really like how tender even large leaf stems are after cooking down a bit.

i didn’t pull those. i washed them and roasted them up though. love that flavor in the coffee.

she left the greens strewed all over the yard

your dog looks just like mine. right down to the tail and foot color and the black nose. Busters 1/3rd red heeler, 1/3rd. blue heeler and 1/3rd border collie. he loves digging and burying things as well as rolling in anything that smells not nice. he dug up a blueberry bush a few years ago that i had just planted. came to me with it like ‘ hey, did you forget something’? i told him to go put it back and he went back and set it right next to the hole. smart dog.

That’s awesome. My lawn is like 50% chicory. I need to go pull em and do something with the roots.

Do you use them for anything besides coffee substitute / additive?

I made a salad with parsley, dill, cilantro and red lettuce, all from the garden. Topped with olive oil from the neighbour’s garden. Only the salt and pepper were Lidl-grown.
